Gardaí have begun clamping down on so-called boy racers in the Dundalk and north Louth areas.
Details were taken of the occupants of up to 30 cars in the car park of Slieve Foy Forest Park on the Carlingford to Omeath Road on Sunday evening ahead of a suspected meeting, while six cars were seized.
A further car was seized at the Ballymascanlon Roundabout last Thursday after the driver was arrested on a dangerous driving charge.
That area has had ‘boy racer’ problems for some time and the crack down will surely be welcomed by road users in the area as well as local residents.
